New Community Investment Committee
In 2025, Letchworth Garden City Heritage Foundation worked to redesign the role of the existing “Grants Committee.” The redesign broadened the role of the committee, enabling greater oversight of all the community projects, programmes and activities supported by the Heritage Foundation and the impact these deliver. To recognise this change and reflect the role of the committee, it has been renamed the “Community Investment Committee.”
Alongside the change in name, there is a new grants structure, created to align grant awards with the Heritage Foundation’s wider strategic aims; to strengthen community wellbeing through nature, promote arts, culture and heritage opportunities, increase access to recreation & leisure and support local community organisations across Letchworth Garden City.
Organisations, charities, and community groups are encouraged to explore the updated framework and application routes via the Heritage Foundation’s dedicated grants webpage. Funding applications are open for our second round of 2026, which will conclude later this year. Please check the website to find the application deadlines.
To support this transition, a new animated explainer has also been produced, explaining the new grant’s structure, how the funding is delegated and how to contact us directly for any enquiries.
First Grants for 2026 Awarded
As part of its ongoing commitment to investing in local groups, the Heritage Foundation’s first round of grants in 2026 were awarded to long-standing community contributors:
- Letchworth Festival – supporting the town’s flagship annual celebration of arts, culture, and community.
- Letchworth Garden City Eagles – to undertake a feasibility study and create a business model for a self-sustaining community sports hub that will meet the club's present and future needs.
These grants reflect the Heritage Foundation’s dedication to nurturing grassroots organisations that support the needs of the wider Letchworth Garden City.

Charitable Partnership
Earlier this year, the Heritage Foundation voted for its “Charity Partner of the Year.” The organisation that received the most votes was Growing Resilience in Teens (GRIT) — a Hitchin-based charity that helps young people build confidence, manage challenges, and develop the skills to make positive choices. Over the next two years, we will be developing a meaningful partnership that supports GRIT’s work around building resilience and emotional wellbeing. This includes financial support from the Community Investment Committee, as well as broader charitable partnership working. More details about this partnership will be coming soon to Letchworth.com.
